    Low Sodium Recipes

My boyfriend just got diagnosed with very high blood pressure (184/105) and I am in search of fast, easy recipes low in sodium.  And because he does not take care of himself (I came home to find him drinking a mountain dew and eating a bag of movie theater style popcorn) the lower the sodium count the better.  I work full time and also go to school at night so I don't have the time to be in the kitchen all day long.  Also I have a 7 yr old little boy so if you have low sodium recipes that kids would like I would love them! Please and thank you.  I like to stay under 200 mg per serving if possible.

you can also reach me at renarita at aol dot com

I too have HBP but it is due to kidney failure.  I have gotten several very good and quick low sodium recipes from the DaVita website. It caters to people with kidney disease and dialysis patients who HAVE to watch the sodium plus a couple of other dietary components.  You might have to create an account as if you are a patient or a caregiver but it doesn't cost anything plus you will be able to learn alot!  Also can try American Heart Association web site.  Good luck!

You may e-mail me at if you have any questions or problems with the site.

Hi - try www.eatbetteramerica.com - this is one of the "sister sites" to BettyCrocker.com, and all recipes are healthy! They must meet low-sodium guidelines to be included. Lots of great ideas!

mommie,u will have to get rid of most or all packaged foods, since they are so full of sodium. Also,no matter what others say you do not have to put salt in cooking water and usually you can cut the salt in most recipes . You could use Salt Sense it has 33% less sodium and it taste fine in everything. If you can make up a few dishes ahead of time,in one day, freeze and take out for dinners. Hope this helped a little.Sharon

    Re: Low Sodium Recipes

here is the deal on low sodium recipe/s. You need to start reading the back of each canned, packages, bages, and any thing you buy. it will let you know how sodium per serving and you need to stop almost using sodium when you cook.

You need to replace salt with onion powder, garlic, or another spices, the next time you go shopping look in the spice section..look for Mrs dashes or a another of salt repace. You will have to change your way of cooking. If you must used salt, used a pinch of salt in your cooking. Look under any cookbook say low sodium recipe/s  some canned goods will say low sodium.
