Most foodies know who Alton Brown is. For those who don’t, he’s the creator and host of the Food Network television show Good Eats, the miniseries Feasting on Asphalt, and the main commentator on Iron Chef America.
Alton recently visited General Mills to talk about food trends and innovations. One of his first comments was that he was invited to speak because "the Food Network affects how and what people eat, and what they want to eat."
When asked to name his favorite General Mills products that are convenient and "good eats" Alton listed these three:
1. Bisquick®--He butterflies Cornish game hens, coats them with BBQ sauce and uses a panini press to cook them.
2. Cheerios®--He grinds them and uses them in meatballs to enhance texture and flavor.
3. Green Giant frozen veggies--He prefers frozen vegetables to fresh in many cases because they are frozen at the peak of their freshness and may have more nutrients than some of their fresh counterparts.
We in the Betty Crocker Kitchens also like to use Bisquick as a coating. Here are some of our recipes for using it: Almond and Peach Crusted Pork Chops, Lemon-Apricot Chicken, Coconut Shrimp, and Beer-Battered Fish.
