This time last year, my grandson, Blake, was only 4 days old. We celebrated his first birthday and my son Jason's 30th birthday last weekend since their birthdays are only four days apart.

My daughter-in-law, Katie, decided on a pirate theme for the party and then invited around 50 guests to attend. I asked Katie how I could help her with the food and she immediately asked if I'd bring the Pirate's Hidden Treasure Cupcakes—a recipe that was in a Betty Crocker supermarket magazine in March. I baked the cupcakes on Friday night and frosted them on Satruday morning. I somehow managed to talk Jack into decorating all 24 cupcakes (he is more of an artist than I am).

I stacked the cupcakes on a cupcake stand from the bettycrockerstore.com web site. Aren't they cute sitting altogether on the stand?

I knew that twenty-four cupakes  wouldn't be enough for 50 guests and so I decided to make one big Pirate Cake too.

Here are the birthday boys: Blake and Jason just after they finished their cupcakes.
